ExxonMobil renews support for malaria partners in Mozambique

• ExxonMobil to contribute $300,000 towards the fight against Malaria in the Provinces of Manica and Cabo Delgado

This contribution supports GRS’s efforts to expand SKILLZ Malaria and launch the new Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) curriculum in Manica and Cabo Delgado. GRS coaches will participate in a number of trainings related to malaria and SGBV to advance program delivery, and a concerted effort will be placed on coordinating with government stakeholders and institutions at the national and subnational levels. To date, approximately 900 youths have participated in the sports-based SKILLZ Malaria program.

Since 2000, the ExxonMobil Malaria Initiative has committed over $170 million to the global fight against malaria, reaching over 125 million people throughout Africa and Asia. In Mozambique, ExxonMobil and ExxonMobil Foundation have invested more than $1 million in programs since 2017, benefiting communities in the provinces of Maputo, Sofala, Manica, Zambezia, Nampula and Cabo Delgado.

TTPC specializes in public health communications and community development. The initiative develops communication materials and programs designed to raise awareness of public health concerns affecting communities across Mozambique. ExxonMobil’s support of the Stop Malaria initiative will be implemented in four centers for internally displaced populations in the Cabo Delgado districts of Metuge and Quissanga, reaching 7700 people.
