ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada and Area 4 co-ventures select upstream EPC contractor and service providers for Rovuma LNG project

The Area 4 co-venturers have selected a consortium of Saipem and Jan de Nul for the Rovuma LNG project’s upstream engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract.
The Area 4 co-venturers awarded Shorebase services contracts to two Mozambican companies CFML Logistic S.A and Alistair Group Mozambique LDA.
The Rovuma LNG project is expected to generate approximately US$6 billion in economic activity in Mozambique and create opportunities for approximately 7,500 Mozambicans during the construction phase.

Maputo, Mozambique – ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada, on behalf of the Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV) representing the Area 4 partners (ENH, CNPC, ENI, KOGAS and XRG) has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Saipem and Jan de Nul for the Rovuma LNG project’s upstream engineering, procurement and technical services.

This selection will support detailed planning and project definition for the Rovuma LNG upstream development, including 18 wells and a network of subsea pipelines and manifolds, as the Area 4 partners progress toward a final investment decision in 2026.

The Saipem-Jan De Nul consortium brings extensive global experience in EPCI support for subsea production equipment and associated structures, umbilical and flowlines in deepwater execution environments.

Johanna Boothey, ExxonMobil Mozambique’s Lead Country Manager and Chairperson said, “We are pleased to announce the selection of upstream EPCI contractor. These selections ensure that we are prepared to begin construction following final investment decision and deliver the first LNG cargo on schedule.

In addition, the Area 4 partners have awarded Shorebase services contracts to two Mozambican owned companies to provide Shorebase and logistics support services in Pemba for Area 4 drilling campaign and related offshore operations.
