Last year, the ExxonMobil Foundation partnered with Junior Achievement Africa to launch the ExxonMobil Foundation STEM Africa competition — a program empowering students across Nigeria, Namibia, Angola, and Mozambique through hands-on STEM education.
We’re proud to share that the ExxonMobil Foundation STEM Africa competition received the Local Impact Award for Driving Positive Change in African Communities at the Big Five Board Awards 2025 in London. Presented by the Africa Energies Summit, this recognition celebrates the meaningful difference the ExxonMobil Foundation is making in African communities through STEM education.
Launched in 2024, the ExxonMobil Foundation STEM Africa reached more than 3,000 students in its inaugural year. Through STEM quizzes, competitions, and hands-on Innovation Camps, students tackle real-world challenges using science, technology, engineering, and math, building skills that shape their futures and their communities.
These experiences proved transformative: 96.4% of participants said they are now open to or actively pursuing STEM careers and 82.7% reported improved problem-solving skills.
This recognition highlights the power of collaboration in creating lasting educational impact across Africa.
