MAPUTO, Mozambique – ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada as Delegated Midstream Operator for Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin Project, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Field Ready in a dedicated and joint effort to enhance the opportunities for Mozambicans to gain employment in the Oil & Gas sector.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Polana Hotel in Maputo, marked the commitment by ExxonMobil Mozambique and the Area 4 partners to the development of the Mozambican workforce through the provision of resources and data reporting metrics in the Mozambique Employability Platform.

In partnership with Field Ready, the plan is to develop a series of programs and initiatives to capacitate youth for upcoming opportunities, such as free learning content to all registered participants of Mozambique Employability Platform (MEP).

The agreement also provides the Area 4 partners with detailed data and metrics on the training, investment and employment by contractors and within the supply chain of Mozambican talent.

Speaking on the impact of the MoU, Frank Kretschmer Chairman for ExxonMobil Mozambique said, “We are excited to partner with Field Ready who is already a partner of the Government of Mozambique. The development of programs to prepare the local workforce for future Rovuma Operations will be critical to the success of the country.”

Field Ready’s status as a Public-Private partnership is supported by the former Secretary of State for Technical and Professional Education (SEETP) and former Secretary of State for Youth and Employment (SEJE), now overtaken by the Ministry of Education and Culture and has been operating in Mozambique since 2017.

Phil Andrews, Field Ready said during the signing, “This will directly aid the youth of Mozambique to successfully enter the county’s workforce by providing additional knowledge, skills and qualifications to meet the demands of the Rovuma Area 4 project.”
