The document establishes the basic terms and conditions by which the entities involved will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding for the execution of the aforementioned electrical infrastructure.
The Palma – Sede Administrative Post Electricity Grid Rehabilitation Project will consist of the construction of 8km of 33kV Lines with wooden poles; the installation of 03 33/0.4kV 160kVA pole-mounted Transformers; the construction of 12km of 0.4kV Lines; installation of 150 Public Luminaires; as well as raising awareness and training consumers on the correct use of electrical energy.
The First Phase of the Project includes the rehabilitation of the electrical grid in the communities of Centro da Vila de Palma, Quilani, Incularino, Mwa, and Quelimane. The second Phase, to be implemented in 2024, will cover the Administrative Posts of Quionga and Pundanhar.
Budgeted at 500 Thousand US dollars, the Project is expected to be carried out over a period of 7 months, benefiting around 500 new customers.
In his speech on the occasion, the General Manager of ExxonMobil Mocambique, Limitada, Arne Gibbs, stated that “having consistent and reliable access to energy accelerates progress in all Sectors. It will help catalyze the recovery of the Palma District and, once again, strengthen the resilience of these communities.”
In turn, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer) of EDM, Eng. Marcelino Gildo Alberto, highlighted the importance of the Project in achieving the goal of universal access to electricity for Mozambicans by 2030 adding that “It is also our expectation that the implementation of this Project can boost initiatives that will contribute to the social and economic development of the population of Palma,” highlighted the EDM CEO.

About Area 4
Area 4 is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A. (MRV), a joint venture owned by ExxonMobil, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which holds a 70 percent interest in the Area 4 Exploration and Production Concession Agreement in addition to MRV, Galp, KOGAS and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, E. P. Each holds a 10 percent interest in Area 4. ExxonMobil leads the construction and operation of the Natural Gas Liquefaction and related facilities on behalf of MRV, and Eni leads the construction and operation of upstream facilities.
