Environmental and social management

We base our actions on a scientific understanding of the environmental impacts (humans and nature) of our operations. We engage with communities, governments and others early in project planning and during operations to understand the social and economic needs of the communities where we operate.

The Rovuma LNG Project maintains a current understanding of environmental and social risks and impacts, translates assessment findings into management actions, and supports ongoing alignment with regulatory and lender requirements through a robust Environment and Social Management Framework

• compliant with Mozambican law – approved permits, licenses and management plan
• informed by up-to-date baseline information through numerous and ongoing studies (including human rights impact assessment, climate change risk assessment, baseline environment and social data, biodiversity studies) and data collection to update our contextual information and understanding and;
• reflected in an E&S Management System (ESMS) that captures relevant management and mitigation measures reflecting the current project design, government and lenders requirements and current social and environmental conditions.
