A message from our leaders

Neighbors,

As 2025 concludes, we’re excited about the progress we’ve made, from safety awards and industry-leading turnarounds to new programs in our community.

A recent milestone we’re celebrating is our advanced recycling expansion. As of August 2025, we’ve processed more than 120 million pounds of plastic waste—turning hard-to-recycle plastics into the building blocks for brand-new products. Our second unit is now online, with two more on their way.

We also announced a major investment in our refinery, shifting part of our gasoline production to higher-value products like lubricant base stocks and diesel. With over a century of investment in Baytown, we’ve continuously evolved to meet society’s needs, and this project is the next step.

In the community, we’re proud to invest across all stages of students’ careers – not just through money for scholarships and programs, but also through equipment donations, mentoring, and internships to help students obtain real-world experience. This year, we’ve kicked off new programs and donations, while also continuing decades-long partnerships. We launched a new internship program with Barbers Hill ISD, giving high school seniors hands-on experience in industry. And we hosted a new STEM Camp, where students explored engineering, carbon capture and more.

In total, across the community, we’ve contributed over $1.3 million in 2025. This includes STEM programs in Goose Creek CISD and Barbers Hill ISD, parks in the City of Baytown and City of Mont Belvieu, numerous non-profits through United Way, and more.

For over a century, we’ve called Baytown home. It’s not just where we work—it’s where we live, grow, and invest in the future. Together, we’re building a stronger Baytown—one milestone, one student, and one innovation at a time.

    Developing the talent pipeline

    • Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

In celebration of Women’s History Month, ExxonMobil Baytown welcomed over 100 eighth-grade girls from Barbers Hill ISD, Cedar Bayou Junior, and Baytown Junior GCCISD for Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. Students explored science through hands-on experiments, connected with industry professionals and discovered exciting career paths in STEM; all part of our over 20 year tradition of inspiring the next generation.

    • New internship program launches at Barbers Hill ISD

This summer, we launched a new internship program for Barbers Hill High School seniors, offering hands-on experience and insight into our operations. This initiative helps students explore career paths in industry as they prepare for life after graduation, reinforcing our commitment to workforce development and community engagement. In addition to on-the-job learning, we dedicated a day to volunteerism, showing interns that we not only care about our operations but also about the communities where we live and work.

    • Celebrating 38 years of Partners in Education

As a proud member of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce’s Partners in Education program, we’ve supported local schools for 38 years. From mentoring the Girl-E Club and leading the GandeNEERS STEM club to sponsoring students for the Women in Industry Conference and participating in Career Days, we’re committed to empowering the next generation. In 2025, we were honored as Partner of the Year alongside Robert E. Lee High School. And our support of GCCISD continues, with a $175,000 donation for new junior high STEM programming, supporting robotics, VR and environmental science.

Riccardo Cavallo, Baytown Complex Operations Manager, presents our contribution to Dr. Lynda Villanueva, President of Lee College.

Our support of Lee College has spanned more than 90 years

This year, we presented a check of $300,000 to support curriculum as well as resources students need beyond the classroom.

How will the contribution be used?

      • $125,000 will go towards supporting the Advanced Technology Department which includes process technology, instrumentation, analyzer technology, mill rights, pipe-fitting welding, logistics, safety and more!
      • $125,000 will benefit the Student Resource and Advocacy Center, which provides essential wraparound services to students—including access to a food pantry, clothing closet, counseling, childcare assistance, and emergency aid—to help ensure their basic needs are met and their academic success is supported.
      • $50,000 will enhance Career Services supporting students with individual career advising, resumes, job searches, practice interviews, career-related workshops and career resource tools. The contribution will also expand student access to mental health services, childcare, interview prep and more.
      Honoring a legacy through education

Following the implosion of the Main Office Building off Decker Drive, its legacy will live on through a meaningful new tradition: an annual $10,000 scholarship, established in partnership between ExxonMobil and Mark and Debbie Himsel.

The new scholarship will focus on students transferring from Lee College to a four-year university to pursue engineering. Transfer scholarships like this one can connect students who’ve already demonstrated their commitment at community college, with resources and opportunities needed to succeed in a demanding engineering career.

      ExxonMobil X CNBC STEM Camp

In July, we hosted a dynamic STEM Camp in partnership with the Conference of National Black Churches, welcoming students from across the Baytown area. Throughout the camp, participants explored exciting topics like carbon capture and storage, engineering principles through catapult building and the real-world impact of science and technology.

The experience concluded with a STEM-focused tour at Daikin Park, where students saw innovation in action and connected classroom concepts to real-world applications. This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and problem-solvers.

      Community involvement

      • St. James House donation

We're proud to support our neighbors at St. James House with a donation of a pallet of bottled water, helping fuel their mission to care for the seniors in our community.

      • STEM Night sparks curiosity at Chambers County Children’s Museum

We hosted a fun-filled STEM Night at the Chambers County Children’s Museum, where students explored science through hands-on activities like building parachutes from everyday materials. They also discovered how ExxonMobil contributes to the plastics used in their favorite toys.

      • Celebrating fatherhood with community impact

In June, we joined the City of Baytown and CoolxDad to present a $15,000 donation supporting local fathers and families. CoolxDad provides resources, from mentorship and career development to home-cooked meals, empowering dads to thrive. We’re proud not only to contribute financially to the program, but also to offer mentorship opportunities through our dedicated employees.

        Building safer roads together

ExxonMobil is proud to invest in the safety of neighbors, contributing $100,000 to the Police Department to deploy five new speed trailers across key areas in Baytown.

These trailers are more than just signs—they’re smart tools designed to reduce speeding, improve traffic flow, and prevent collisions. Each unit features bright LED messaging, with reminders like “Drive Safe”, helping serve as a visible deterrent to unsafe driving.

By collecting and analyzing traffic data, the Baytown Police Department can identify peak congestion times and implement strategies to keep our community moving safely.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to safety and investing in the Baytown area.

        What's a turnaround?

Earlier this year, we safely completed another set of major turnarounds. Similar to how cars go for maintenance and servicing every few years, a turnaround is like a check-up for our manufacturing facilities. Instead of waiting for problems, we temporarily stop operations at certain units to inspect, clean, repair and upgrade equipment.

Regular maintenance is vital for averting unplanned breakdowns, fostering a safer environment for our workers and the surrounding community.

Turnarounds create thousands of temporary job opportunities. Many of the skilled workers you see are local contractors, positively impacting nearby businesses, including shops, restaurants and hotels.

Our turnaround initiatives are essential for maintaining a steady supply of fuel, chemicals and other critical products we all use every day.

        Operational excellence

        • Our second advanced recycling unit is up and running

We’ve expanded our Baytown operations with a second advanced recycling unit. Combined with our first unit, which has been in operation since late 2022, we have processed more than 100 million pounds of plastic as of May 2025. Advanced recycling transforms used plastic into raw materials for valuable products. Through our existing facilities, we can convert nearly 90% of used plastic into useful raw materials. This helps keep plastic out of landfills and incinerators and can help our customers meet their goals around plastic waste.

        • Safety recognition across the Baytown Area

We’re proud to share that the Baytown Chemical Plant, Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant, and Baytown Olefins Plant collectively received eight honors at the 2025 Texas Chemistry Council and the Texas Chemical Association Awards, recognizing excellence in safety, community engagement, and operations.

We’re grateful to each and every team member whose dedication to safety and excellence drives our success—every shift, every day.

        • Reconfiguring for growth: leveraging the strength of integration

A major reconfiguration project will soon be under way at ExxonMobil’s Baytown, Texas, complex that will reshape our production capabilities and position the business for long-term success in a changing energy landscape.
