Operating in Papua New Guinea is a privilege, so we are guided by our belief that the benefits associated with resource development should be shared with the people of this country.

Though robust collaboration with all levels of government, landowners, local communities, suppliers and industry peers we have been able to establish a world-class operation in Papua New Guinea that is creating real economic and social benefits.

Through its first ten years of LNG production operations, the PNG LNG Project has now delivered more than PGK 30 Billion (or USD $8 billion) for Papua New Guinea. Nearly half of this amount has been paid as tax to the Internal Revenue Commission.

Equity distributions are paid to Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) and Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) based on their respective interests in the PNG LNG co-venture, and development levies and royalties are paid to the Department of Petroleum and Energy.

Further, EMPNG has invested almost PGK8.1 billion (USD 2.05 billion) in Papua New Guinean services since the start of production in 2014. Of this, PGK2.6 billion (USD 654 million) was spent on landowner company (“Lanco”) services.
