In India, we support high-impact organizations — United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Shanti Bhavan, SOS Children’s Village, Samarthanam, and others — to uplift the marginalized and connect them with transformational opportunities.

Advancing education and capabilities

ExxonMobil is helping to build India’s human capital by backing educational and capacity-building initiatives. We are a long-standing supporter of Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project, which provides a home and education to disadvantaged children, empowering them to change their future.

We also support family-strengthening programs that enable vulnerable families to care for their children. Our targeted initiatives help them learn skills to improve family income and ensure that children have access to essentials such as health and education.

Building essential infrastructure

We actively support initiatives to progress India’s sanitation goals. Access to sanitation facilities at school is known to prevent children from dropping out and positively impacts educational outcomes. We are helping to build sanitation infrastructure at government schools in Karnataka. We are also refurbishing anganwadis (child-care centers) in rural Karnataka to promote the welfare of new mothers and pre-school children.

Facilitating access to healthcare

Improving access to healthcare is another focus area. We support dedicated initiatives to enable access to quality healthcare and rehabilitation facilities for children and adults with profound disabilities. The beneficiaries include those with severe health conditions such as spinal-cord injuries, terminal cancer, acute arthritis, psychosocial illnesses, diabetes and heart diseases.

Boosting STEM opportunities

Being a premier energy and tech company, investing in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education is a natural priority. So we sponsor STEM scholarships for academically gifted students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Our STEM scholarship program is part of our commitment to further cultivate India’s unmatched tech talent that will become tomorrow’s educators, entrepreneurs and innovators.

Skill building for women

Keen on skill-building initiatives that help women achieve financial security, we are backing the Azad Foundation’s “Women on Wheels” that trains women from difficult backgrounds to drive and work as professional drivers. This initiative not only provides a safer “for women, by women” option for daily commuters, but also helps women drivers become active promoters of cleaner, CNG-powered transportation in cities like Delhi.

Volunteering for impact

Our employees regularly volunteer to mentor young students, guiding them on their career path. Adapting nimbly to the COVID-19 situation, our volunteers conducted online personality-development workshops for schoolchildren and hygiene-awareness sessions for teenage girls.

Our employees have been specially recognized for enabling out-of-school children from migrant families to bridge their learning gap. We also participated in the drive to help restore Bengaluru’s famous Seegehalli Lake.
