For us, making the world a better place doesn’t stop when it’s time to leave the office.

Whether we’re on the clock or it’s our day off, our teams are always pushing for positive change. From global efforts to secure energy and lower emissions to supporting local communities, we want to improve lives.

Throughout the Asia Pacific region, we’ve made science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education a priority. Discover how our team members are volunteering their knowledge, experience and talent to help drive the next generation into STEM careers.

Chinese Mainland

Over the past two decades, we have partnered with Junior Achievement China to run a Youth Success education program, with our volunteers donating nearly 15,000 hours of their time. This initiative supports the development of children and teens, across various stages and diverse environments.

To extend ExxonMobil’s commitment to women in engineering beyond our walls, we partner with local schools at different sites to empower young women to envision futures in technical fields.

Recently, we offered young high school girls hands-on STEM experience at our Shanghai Technology Center. The day included a tour, a lab visit and interactive science activities aimed at igniting the girls’ interest in the technology industry. Our many female researchers provided role models to the girls, showing gender is no obstacle to pursuing scientific dreams.

Singapore

Our work on building STEM capabilities with Junior Achievement crossed borders this year, as ExxonMobil Singapore employees ran four STEM workshops for students in collaboration with the group.

Through the workshops, students learnt more about everyday applications of STEM, the value of STEM education and careers, and STEM in the energy industry. ExxonMobil volunteers shared their own experiences and how their education has helped their careers.

India

Through our partnership with the Foundation for Excellence (FFE), we’re proud to support nearly 200 engineering students from underprivileged backgrounds every year, providing scholarships and mentoring.

Recently, we welcomed them to our Bengaluru office for a special mentoring session — which included two mentors who were FFE alumni themselves.

A standout part of the session was a tour of our Immersive Virtual Reality Center, giving the students an entirely new perspective on their future careers.

Papua New Guinea

We’re giving young girls hands-on experiences with science and engineering in Papua New Guinea. For a second year, the “Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day” welcomed dozens of Port Moresby students to our LNG plant to spark their STEM curiosity.

Under the theme Design Your Future, nearly 50 Papua New Guinean volunteers from ExxonMobil’s Women in Energy Network helped students explore engineering concepts and mentored potential future engineers. The students found the practical sessions exciting, and the event inspired many to consider a STEM career.

Hong Kong

For almost a decade, we have been the exclusive sponsor of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s STEM program, inspiring primary and secondary students through hands-on activities such as programming robots to perform weightlifting and fencing. Our dedicated colleagues have volunteered at various events, demonstrating our continued commitment to STEM education.

Thailand

Our close collaborations with Thai universities — including Kasetsart, Chiang Mai, Chulalongkorn, and Mahidol — have evolved into a series of nationwide events and STEM-focused programs aimed at fostering scientific and engineering mindsets, and developing real-world skills to support career growth.

This year, more than 70 of our employees volunteered in STEM programs and workshops, engaging almost 1,500 students from high school through university.

A highlight was our ExxonMobil Bootcathon — a combination bootcamp and hackathon — that challenged students with real business problems and encouraged them to develop AI and data-driven solutions.

Indonesia

Supporting STEM education is one of ExxonMobil Indonesia’s key priorities in advancing community development and empowering the nation’s future. From introducing robotics in elementary schools to mentoring high school students, our employees are helping shape young minds.

Our volunteers recently participated in the 2025 Green Innovation Camp, a STEM-focused competition and mentorship program for high school students. They served as judges, mentors, and trainers — sharing industry insights and inspiring students to view STEM careers in new and exciting ways.
