News releases Dec. 15, 2021
- $50,000 contribution to support services that help children grow up in safe and nurturing homes
- Annual holiday gift supports the work of North Texas nonprofit organizations
“We applaud Dallas CASA for its work in local communities and courtrooms to identify safe, permanent and loving homes for abused and neglected children,” Woods said. “We selected Dallas CASA this year because of the agency’s important work and success in advocating for children in need. From the leadership level to each individual volunteer, Dallas CASA is focused on ensuring that children can grow up in stable and nurturing environments. ExxonMobil is proud to support its efforts this holiday season.”
Established in 1979, the Dallas chapter of CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, serves more children with volunteer advocates than any other CASA program in the United States. Dallas CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to gather information on children in foster care which helps courts decide the best possible outcome for each child, including a safe and permanent home. In 2020 alone, Dallas CASA served nearly 3,400 children in Dallas County through more than 1,500 volunteers.
“It is incredibly encouraging for Dallas CASA to receive this gift from ExxonMobil because it will help create more opportunities for Dallas children to become successful, healthy adults,” said Kathleen LaValle, president and chief executive officer of Dallas CASA.
“For many children we serve, a CASA volunteer is the only constant face they see during the most difficult and confusing time of their childhood. But with the help of caring advocates and this generous support from ExxonMobil, we can create bright futures and break the cycle of abuse and neglect in the lives of these children.”
Recent past recipients of the annual ExxonMobil Chairman’s Gift have included Community Partners of Dallas, CitySquare and Family Compass.

About Dallas CASA
Dallas CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) trains and supervises community volunteers who are court-appointed to advocate for the best interests of child victims of abuse and neglect. The children served have been removed from unsafe homes and are in the legal custody of the state. Supported by professional staff, volunteers gather information and make recommendations to help judges decide the services each child needs to heal from trauma and the best outcome for a safe and permanent home. Now in its 41st year, Dallas CASA now serves more children than any of the more than 900 CASA programs nationwide. CASA depends on the generosity and the commitment of the community to make sure every child in need has a CASA volunteer advocate.
