Cepu Block

The Cepu Block Production Sharing Contract (PSC) was signed in 2005, by ExxonMobil Cepu Limited (EMCL), PT Pertamina EP Cepu, and four local government companies. EMCL serves as an operator for the Cepu block in East Java. Along with the partners and government support, we help to strengthen Indonesia’s energy security by contributing around 25 percent of the national crude oil production.

We have delivered more than 650 million barrels of cumulative crude oil production from Cepu Block through safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.

Banyu Urip field

The Banyu Urip project is the first development under the Cepu Block contract area involving the developmentof the Banyu Urip oil field. The discovery of an estimated 450 million barrels of oil was announced in April 2001. Today, we continue to see excellent reservoir performance. Based on our technical assessment, it has increased more than double, from 450 million barrels gross at FID to 1 billion barrels today.

Historically, we initiated the first oil production from the Banyu Urip field in December 2008 through the Early Production Facility (EPF). In August 2009, EPF produced 20,000 barrels of oil per day in August 2009. Innovation and excellence in project management increased production to over 80,000 barrels per day during the full field start-up in 2015.

Kedung Keris field

To support the Banyu Urip oil field production, EMCL discovered the Kedung Keris oil field in 2011 and started production at the end of 2019, ahead of schedule. This field is situated around 15 km from Banyu Urip field. Located approximately 15 km from the Banyu Urip field, Kedung Keris, as per its development plan, holds a substantial oil reserve of about 20 million barrels and can produce up to 10,000 barrels daily.
