At ExxonMobil, our operations are deeply rooted in science and technology, and we understand the importance of nurturing the next generations of scientists and engineers through STEAM education. To make STEAM education accessible to more students, ExxonMobil Hong Kong (EMHK) recently sponsored the STEAM - Design and Care program organized by St. James’ Settlement (SJS) that empowered 52 students from three local primary schools to learn basic programming and 3D technologies to create prototypes.
Following their training from late 2023 to early 2024, the students went above and beyond by participating in community service sessions, where they shared their creations with elderly residents and schoolmates. During the session at the So Uk Neighbourhood Elderly Centre on June 12, the students showcased their creations to elderly residents and crafted unique 3D lucky charms for them. The program not only opened the doors of STEAM education for these students but also instilled in them the value of giving back to the community.
The STEAM - Design and Care program is one of the signature projects of
SJS’s Grant-in-aid Brightens Children’s Lives Service, an initiative started in 2005 to provide an equal learning opportunity and create a brighter future for children from grassroots families. EMHK is pleased to be one of the corporate partners supporting this meaningful program to cultivate future STEAM professionals.
