Youth are critical to the long-term development of society and equipping them with the skills needed for career planning is essential to fostering future talent. In support of this objective, ExxonMobil Hong Kong (EMHK) sponsored two career workshops organized by Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JAHK), benefiting a total of 72 local students.
The first workshop, held on September 25, 2025, brought together six EMHK colleagues and 12 JAHK volunteers to mentor 67 students from 18 tertiary institutions. Through dynamic speed-mentoring sessions, students delivered elevator pitches to mentors acting as hiring managers and received constructive, real-time feedback. Mentors also shared practical tips on interview skills and career planning, helping students gain greater confidence as they prepare to enter the workforce.
The second workshop, held on March 13, 2026, featured a more immersive experience, with 15 students from six institutions visiting the EMHK office to gain firsthand insight into working in the energy industry. Tony Kwok, ExxonMobil Hong Kong and Macau Fuels Sales Director, drew on his 29 years of experience with the company to share insights on navigating a rapidly evolving workplace, including the challenges presented by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. This was followed by interactive mentoring sessions, where five colleagues shared their personal academic and career journeys, reinforcing the importance of adaptability and lifelong learning.
Both workshops were well received, with students highlighting the practical relevance of the insights to both the energy sector and broader career pathways. Through these initiatives, EMHK remains committed to supporting youth development by empowering the next generation with the knowledge, confidence, and inspiration to succeed.
