ExxonMobil Australia’s new CEO Simon Younger recently toured some of the business’ midstream facilities in Victoria as part of his introduction to the company’s Australian operations.
Simon visited Mobil’s Altona and Yarraville Terminals and Gellibrand dock, now known as the Melbourne Terminal, for an overview of fuels operations as well as to meet the teams working at the sites.
As Melbourne’s largest fuel storage and distribution terminal, Mobil’s Melbourne Terminal supplies around 40% of Victoria’s fuel needs.
Simon said, “I was fascinated by the immense scale of our Product Solutions business’ operating footprint across the multiple sites, and the integration with nearby communities.
“I also gained a deeper understanding of the works taking place including the conversion of tanks to Minimum Stockholding Obligation storage at Altona, the main product pipeline from Gellibrand (Williamstown) to Altona, our Gellibrand wharf fuel import facility and Yarraville Terminal.”
The team enjoyed a special meet and greet lunch with Simon, who took the opportunity to chat to as many colleagues as possible.
Following a tour of the sites, Simon was introduced to the team at Mobil’s community partner Williamstown Football Club, where he was presented with an honorary Mobil Williamstown Football Club jumper by their CEO, Ashley Baker.
The Mobil Melbourne team is proud to support the Women’s VFL team to help build awareness of the women’s game in the community and the installation of new goal nets at the club’s home ground in Williamstown.
The tour concluded at Mobil’s Yarraville Terminal, which has undergone significant change in the past two years as part of the transition to one Melbourne Terminal and to increase overall efficiency.
“I am excited to see how much further we can optimize our assets and advantages as we fully evolve into a large scale, strategic terminal at Altona,” Simon said.
