ExxonMobil Australia’s new intern cohort are excited to grow their skills over the next eight months through our internship program. The 15 interns were carefully selected amongst a pool of more than 600 applicants this year and are looking forward to gaining firsthand knowledge and exposure into the real working environment.

Our internship program is designed to bring highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals with diverse backgrounds to our organisation, where they will get to network with senior professionals and contribute to the important work of our business.

Alan Qiu, who is interning in our PNG team, commented, “I am thrilled to be a part of the program and eager to tap into the expertise of ExxonMobil’s team of professionals to help acquire the skills I need that will play a huge role later in my career.” Alan recently graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.

The interns will be working across various business groups including Decommissioning, Wells, Pipelines, Commercial and Low Carbon Solutions and will be involved in different projects within each group where they will get the opportunity to work on solving real life business problems as part of their projects.

Each of them will work closely with a dedicated mentor who will provide support throughout the program to ensure they have a valuable experience during their time here.

Mattias Dickens, who is in his final year studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Western Australia and interning in our Decommissioning team, commented, “Getting the opportunity to network with people from different backgrounds is something I am looking forward to and I am excited to learn more about the business and finally put my theory into practice.”

The interns kicked off their program on Monday with a welcome lunch and were introduced to our leadership team. Over the next week, they will be busy familiarising themselves with our operations and undertaking necessary inductions including Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training.
