• Nov. 1, 2023Embarking on an internship journey can be both exciting and daunting at the same time. For our current intern cohort, overcoming the steep learning curves and obstacles in the working world is something they’ve been navigating with precision since day one of their internship program.
It’s been a challenging but rewarding eight months discovering how theory translates into practice whilst gaining hands-on experience and learning from our talented pool of team members at ExxonMobil Australia.
To mark the end of their internship journey, our interns had the opportunity to showcase their learnings and involvement in the business by presenting their final projects to team members at our Docklands office earlier this month.
Yesterday, they showcased their projects at a special Poster Presentation Day event, spoke about their project wins and challenges, and participated in a Q&A session with the wider business.
“The internship program has been a valuable experience. My team have been wonderfully supportive and have given me many opportunities to learn and develop. It has been so interesting gaining a better understanding of the energy sector and the role of environmental regulation in the sector,” commented Zoe Obrien, Offshore Environmental Intern.
“I am immensely grateful to my buddy and technical mentors who have been supporting me since the start of my journey. It’s been a blast to journey with the other nine interns throughout the program. I’ve had the privilege of forming new relationships with people from all walks of life and different backgrounds along the way – from our Docklands office to my many visits offshore. This internship program is a milestone I’ll cherish for my entire career,” commented Jonathan Liew, Wells Engineering Intern.
“One of the key highlights of this internship journey is the Lunch & Learn sessions we had every week, where subject matter experts from different teams shared key insights about the business. I found these sessions eye-opening, and I gained valuable understanding of the business. I’m grateful to ExxonMobil, and especially to my team and mentors who provided me with support and guidance throughout this internship program and were eager to see me succeed and grow from day one,” commented Abdullah Al-Selwi, Production and Subsurface Group Intern.
“It was fantastic to see the important contributions made by our interns this year. Their projects will have beneficial impact to our business long after our interns leave. On behalf of the management team, a big thank you to all our interns; it has been fabulous seeing your personal and professional development throughout the program. Thank you also to the recruitment team, supervisors, buddies, and mentors for your help throughout the journey," said Druvi Ruberu, Development Manager and Internship Program Sponsor.
Congratulations to each one of our 2023 interns and we wish them all the best in their careers ahead!
