As part of these efforts, Esso Australia Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator Natasha Carroll recently spoke to students at Bairnsdale Secondary College about our environment management and operations in Bass Strait.
Natasha said this virtual session offered the opportunity to highlight the important role our operations have in the local area and the focus to protect the marine environment.
“We operate in a number of locations with a variety of environmental sensitivities. I was able to really impress on the students how importantly we take our responsibilities to the local environment, including how we evaluate the characteristics of the existing environment that may be affected by our activities.
“I also covered our oil spill response planning and mitigation activities and was really impressed with the questions and thoughts from the students.
“This virtual school visit was a great way to stay connected with the local community in Gippsland while helping to inform students about our environmental management initiatives,” she said.
