Esso Australia is supporting the Red Knights motorcycle club annual Christmas toy run, helping to spread cheer to Gippslanders who are doing it tough in the lead up to Christmas.
Red Knights (Chapter 6) is a motorcycle club based in Sale for members of fire services and their families. The Sale Red Knights chapter is one of 450 Red Knights chapters around the globe. With around 10,000 members, Red Knights is the largest motorcycle group for fire fighters in the world.
Each year approaching Christmas, the Sale Red Knights use money they have raised to deliver toys and other valued goods to vulnerable community members.
“Our donation is helping the Sale Red Knights to deliver a range of helpful items from gift cards to food, bedding and sporting goods to people in the Sale community who need support in the lead up to Christmas,” said Longford Plants Manager, Kartik Garg.
The Sale Red Knights have other connections to Esso Australia, with several of its members having worked at the Longford Gas Plants, including the current Vice President, Neville McKenzie and President Andrew Young, who even completed his high school work experience at the Longford Heliport.
“In fact, our association with Esso goes back even further,” said Red Knights Sale President, Andrew Young.
“My mother worked as an accountant for Esso for around 30 years, starting out in Sale in 1981 and then moving to the Melbourne office,” said Andrew.
“Esso Australia is committed to making a positive and lasting contribution to every community where we operate. We are proud to support schools and community organisations close to our Gippsland operations through our community contributions program, such as the Red Knights annual toy run which delivers much-needed goods to members of the Sale community,” said Kartik.
