SINGAPORE - FairPrice Group (FPG) and ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. commemorated 20 years of strategic alliance with their ninth annual charity car wash event. To commemorate the significance of the decades-long partnership, almost 200 volunteers came together to clean cars to raise over S$100,000 to be donated to the Children’s Aid Society (CAS). The funds will be used to support vulnerable children and youths aged seven to 18 years old experiencing adverse family circumstances or child protection issues.

The charity car wash took place at six Esso stations across Singapore, including the Esso Station at 399 Lorong 2 Toa Payoh, which was graced by Mr Seah Kian Peng, NTUC Enterprise Group CEO1, and Speaker of the Parliament of Singapore. Mr. Seah was in attendance to present the tokens of appreciation for the gold sponsors of the event.

Mr Alvin Goh, Executive Director of Children’s Aid Society, said: “Today marks the second year of our partnership with ExxonMobil and FairPrice Group. The contributions from last year have gone a long way in supporting our children and youths in their journey to become resilient and empowered individuals. We offer our heartfelt gratitude to the organisers, as well as the sponsors and donors this year for supporting Children’s Aid Society through the donations from today.”

Ms Elaine Heng, Deputy Group CEO and CEO (Retail Business), FairPrice Group, said: “Along with our social mission to moderate the cost of living for all in Singapore, we are also committed to supporting the vulnerable in our community. Children and youth are the future leaders of Singapore and we are grateful for the opportunity to contribute towards CAS’ philanthropic mission. Together with our partner ExxonMobil, we hope to nurture a continued spirit of empathy and giving in Singapore.”

Ms Mabel Leung, Asia Pacific Fuels Sales Director, ExxonMobil, said: “We are proud to partner with FairPrice Group for the last 20 years, not only to offer our customers value and convenience, but also to make a positive impact in the community. We are glad that the funds raised through this carwash will help vulnerable children and youths supported by CAS.”

This year’s donation is the largest amount raised since the Charity car wash started in 2012. Since the launch of the first charity car wash, this initiative has supported various voluntary welfare organisations in Singapore, including Lions Befrienders Service Association (Singapore), Children-At-Risk Empowerment Association (CARE), and Disabled People’s Association.

The charity car wash is part of FairPrice Group’s flagship employee volunteering programme – Day of Service. Other activities under the programme include FairPrice Group’s signature annual Share-A-Textbook book donation drive, food packing, meal deliveries, and engagement initiatives to support the elderly.
