Jotun Blend

Production and handling

The Jotun field is located around 200 km west of Stavanger, between the Balder and Heimdal fields. Average water depth in the field area is 126 meters. The reserves for the Jotun field lie within production blocks 25/8 and 25/7. The licensees of these two blocks have entered into an agreement for the coordinated development (unitization) of Jotun, with ExxonMobil as the operator. 

Recoverable reserves are estimated at approximately 200 million bbls of oil and 1.8 m³ of gas. The Jotun field is developed by a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel with a designed production rate of 90 kbd per day. The crude is blended with oil from the Elli, Elli South, Tau West, and Ringhorne Jurassic fields. 

Total production from all constituent fields is approximately 17 kbd, of which ExxonMobil markets approximately 12 kbd. 

Load Port Data

Loading is via the Jotun A FPSO with storage of 580,000 bbls. The crude is offloaded into shuttle tankers moored astern and typically sold to refiners in northwestern Europe and the U.S. on a CFR basis.

Jotun is a light, slightly paraffinic low sulfur crude.
