Fostering youths’ career aspirations and personal growth

Supporting youth development is a key community initiative at ExxonMobil, particularly in inspiring young people's career aspirations and equipping them with essential work skills. In Hong Kong, we have collaborated with local community partners to participate in a career workshop and a job shadowing day, aiming to leverage our resources to help students gain experience in job searching and the workplace.

On January 23, five ExxonMobil Hong Kong (EMHK) volunteers participated in the Career Dimension 4.0 workshop organized by Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JAHK). Mentoring 100 Form 5 students from Cheung Chuk Shan College, the volunteers shared their academic and career journeys, advising students on how to enter their desired industries. In the subsequent mock interviews, our volunteers served as interviewers to help students improve their presentation skills. They were delighted to receive thank you cards from the students, expressing gratitude for the practical tips on securing job offers and building successful careers.

On May 13, we hosted a job shadowing day for 12 Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) students at the ExxonMobil Tsing Yi West Terminal. Some of them also participated in last year's HKUST-EMHK iSTEAM Program, exclusively sponsored by us, and showed a keen interest in learning more about the energy industry. Guided by five EMHK mentors, they toured the terminal and observed our operations, exploring various job opportunities that might suit their specialties and interests. The mentors shared valuable life lessons and offered advice on career planning and lifelong learning.

Empowering our next generation is the same as empowering our future. We hope our commitment to fostering youth development supports young people's personal growth and encourages them to contribute their talents and efforts to their community.
