Mobil’s Melbourne Terminal team attended the recent Williamstown FC Mother’s Day luncheon at Seaview Williamstown Events Centre.
As a proud new partner of the club, Mobil was the event sponsor and the Williamstown FC Victorian Football League Men’s match that followed the luncheon was named the “Mobil round”.
The team is proud to support the Women’s VFL team to help build awareness of the women’s game in the community and the installation of new goal nets at the club’s home ground in Williamstown.
The event, themed “Celebrating our mums, past and present”, featured a fantastic line-up of speakers including Motherless Daughters founder Danielle Snelling, VFL and VFLW players and their mums, Legacy Spirit Co founders and Yarraville Terminal Manager, Steven Flynn.
In his speech, Steven said, “We’re thrilled to support a club that unites the Hobsons Bay community the way this footy club does, particularly in supporting the Women’s VFL team to help build awareness of the women’s game in the community and to encourage girls to get involved.”
Steven paid tribute to his own wife and the juggle involved in raising their young family whilst also pursuing their respective careers.
Mobil’s employee parental leave policy enabled the family to manage looking after their children a little longer before needing to engage childcare services.
“Several years ago, Mobil made a step change in policy to support primary carers and help enable more mothers back into the work force. For us as a family this meant that I was able to take 17 weeks off to be a stay at home Dad, and conversely Jacinta was able to get back to work.”
Luke Attard, Head of Commercial and Partnerships at Williamstown FC, said, “"The Williamstown Football Club are incredibly proud to partner with Mobil, whose commitment with their internal parental leave policy demonstrates a profound dedication to supporting families. Their efforts go beyond the workplace, significantly benefiting our local community in Hobsons Bay.
“Mobil's support for women's football and provision of new behind the goal nets is a testament to their dedication to encouraging an increase in women's participation as well as promoting an active and healthy lifestyle."
