Community health, safety, and security

We integrate community health, safety, and security into our impact assessments as a key component of our socioeconomic management approach and plans. Our Community Health, Safety, and Security plans typically include identified risks, as well as mitigation and management measures, and monitoring of outcomes. Among others, risks may include those associated with road traffic; vector-related diseases; soil, water, and sanitation-related diseases; and cultural health practices. As a part of our approach, we evaluate opportunities to contribute to the health, safety, and security in the communities where we operate.

Our affiliate ExxonMobil Cepu Limited, for example, launched a community-based water program in Indonesia to reduce waterborne diseases and promote healthier living in an area where many residents lack reliable access to clean water during the dry season. The community established a committee to manage the budget dedicated to constructing and monitoring water facilities as well as the distribution of water. Several water towers have been built in the neighboring community to serve as the key source of potable water distributed to households through an installed pipeline network.
