Earlier this year, Danielle Wallace, Training and Procedures Supervisor, represented ExxonMobil Australia for the launch of the Gippsland Women in Industry Network held at Yallourn Power Station.

In partnership with AGL Loy Yang, Loy Yang B Alinta Energy, Opal and Energy Australia and TAFE Gippsland, the network aims to foster an environment where women can succeed and drive change in the industry. It will focus on increasing the number of women working in Gippsland’s thriving industries in non-traditional roles and improve retention in these roles through an enhance workplace experience.  

Together with its partners, the network will work on reducing barriers for women in industry, support them in achieving their career goals, help build resilience and make meaningful connections with other women through its events.

The launch day proved to be a success with over 130 women attending the event, showcasing the increasing number of women in the workforce in Gippsland.

“It was really amazing to have so many women attend the event to support the network’s goal in providing a safe space for women to have conversations about inclusive workplaces.” Danielle commented.

Danielle participated as a panelist where she and five others shared their work experiences and inspiring stories about overcoming gender barriers in their careers.

Attendees were also treated to a Gravitas Masterclass presentation by Dr. Louise Mahler, a world-class leadership communication expert who shared useful strategies to building leadership presence in a male-dominated workplace through confidence and communication.

“I am looking forward to attending more of the network’s events this year and playing an active role in forging for women’s equality in the workplace,” commented Danielle.
