Building experience from Pakistan to Australia

South Asia Pacific Business Development Advisor Imran Farooqi knows the lubes business inside and out.  Beginning in 2003 he spent 13 years with Mobil’s Joint Venture, Distributor & Alliance Partner in Pakistan.  He then moved to Australia and worked for a Mobil distributor.  In May 2023 he became a part of Product Solutions – Finished Lubes.

“By working for the Mobil brand in two different countries I have been fortunate to work across all models of the lubes business and watch it evolve.  This has allowed me to learn different sectors and develop professionally,” Imran said.

Despite the wealth of lubes experience, Imran had limited opportunities to interact with colleagues from different functions.  He always felt like there was more he could learn from his peers which is why he recently joined the Inclusion & Diversity Council.

“It’s rewarding to be a part of such a diverse group from different functions.  There is so much to learn from their areas of expertise, and it allows me to improve every day.  I really admire the cross-functional team bonding and the focus on safety, health, physical and mental well-being of employees.  I believe this is of paramount importance to any successful business,” Imran explained.

Imran’s view is that diversity and inclusion performance goals are like roadmaps for creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued.  He looks forward to being a passionate contributor to help us achieve these targets.

“I’ll work with the team to think of it as a plan to ensure that people from all walks of life—different cultures, backgrounds, genders, and ages—feel like they belong” Imran concluded.
