The capital of Parana state, Curitiba is a modern city with about 2 million inhabitants. Boasting fine restaurants and friendly people, the city is located at the center of an important political and economic region and is near other major Brazilian cities, such as Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, as well as near the Mercosul (Southern Common Market) capitals of Brasilia, Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Asuncion. Curitiba is known for its focus on sustainable city development, earning the nicknames of "Model City," "Ecological Capital of Brazil" and "Green City.” This integration of cultural, social, intellectual, economic and environmental dimensions contributes to a strong and healthy community and makes Curitiba an attractive city in which to work.
The ExxonMobil journey in Curitiba started in 1999, with approximately 90 employees who focused on centralizing EssoCard operations for the Southern Cone region of South America. Its location and access to the Spanish-speaking labor force made Curitiba an ideal place to conduct these operations.
Today, the Curitiba Global Business Center (GBC) employs more than 1,400 people and operates in two buildings in the downtown area, Corporate Evolution and Século XXI. Each of our offices was designed to provide an open, collaborative and safe working environment, including mother’s rooms, workstations ergonomically tailored to each employee and more.
