ExxonMobil donates $50,000 to Family Compass to build healthy families

IRVING, Texas — Darren Woods, ExxonMobil chairman and chief executive officer, presented $50,000 to Family Compass today to further the organization’s goals of ending child abuse and neglect.
  • Mission of Dallas-based Family Compass is to end child abuse and neglect
  • Contribution of $50,000 will support Family Compass’s programs to help families in need
  • Annual gift benefits North Texas nonprofit organizations

The grant marks the 13th annual ExxonMobil Chairman’s Gift given during the holidays to benefit and highlight a deserving nonprofit organization in North Texas.

“Every child in our community should have a stable home life and strong environment in which to thrive,” Woods said. “It is an honor to provide this grant in recognition of the work Family Compass continues to do in North Texas to build healthy families and a strong community.”

Family Compass was established in 1992 as a result of escalating incidents of child abuse and a lack of services focused on prevention. The agency offers home mentoring and community education programs for families that have elevated risk for child abuse and that reside in the communities throughout Dallas and Collin counties that are most in need.

“We are deeply grateful to ExxonMobil for its generosity, and humbled to be the recipient of this donation,” said Ona Foster, CEO of Family Compass. “These dollars will make a tremendous difference in our outreach, which is so critical every day, but especially during holidays when stresses can be compounded.”

Family Compass believes that every child has the fundamental right to a healthy family and environment, the opportunity to succeed in school and to experience life without violence. Since its inception, the organization has served more than 48,000 children and parents whose circumstances put children at risk.

ExxonMobil created the Chairman’s Holiday Gift in 2006 to fund the crucial work of nonprofit organizations in North Texas, home to the company’s corporate headquarters. Previous grant recipients have included Promise House, The Gatehouse, Jonathan’s Place, ACH Child and Family Services and Grapevine Relief and Community Exchange.
