Local community efforts

ExxonMobil strives to be a good corporate citizen by working with governments, engaging with stakeholders and partnering with local organizations to help and give back to the communities where we operate. Our community investments and employee volunteerism efforts in Singapore span the areas of education, the environment, health, and other community causes.

Strategic community investments

We are committed to being a good corporate citizen and trusted partner, and aim to build effective collaborations with the communities where we operate.

Outstanding Social Worker Awards and Promising Social Worker Awards

Since 1998, ExxonMobil has sponsored the Outstanding Social Worker Awards to recognize social workers for their consistent and professional contributions towards the improvement of social work in Singapore. The Promising Social Worker Awards were introduced in 2008 to recognize newer social workers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and contribution in serving both their clients and the community.

Caring Teacher Awards

The biennial Caring Teacher Awards is jointly organized by the National Institute of Education and ExxonMobil, with support from the Ministry of Education. Since 1996, this award recognizes exceptional contributions of teachers who have consistently made a difference in the lives of their students, not only in their studies but also outside the classroom.

South West CDC - ExxonMobil Transport Bursary

ExxonMobil has partnered the South West CDC since 2003 to provide bursaries to students in need from the district. The Transport Bursary helps to defray transport costs for over 900 students. Over the years, we have increased the amount of financial support given to keep pace with the cost of living.

NAC-ExxonMobil Concert in the Park

As part of our efforts to bring performing arts to the public, ExxonMobil has been partnering the National Arts Council to offer free outdoor concerts held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The concerts remain a popular event with the public and help to feature both established and up-and-coming local arts groups.

Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum

ExxonMobil partners the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum to help foster the appreciation and conservation of our flora and fauna. Our sponsorship of educational materials and workshops helps students learn more about our environment and biodiversity, so that they too can do their part to sustain the country’s shared natural heritage for the future.

Volunteerism

We foster a culture that encourages employees to volunteer by giving their time and effort to meet various needs of the community. Our employees in Singapore come together for a good cause in company-wide outreach activities. They also volunteer in smaller groups and have distributed meals and goodie packs to seniors at elderly homes or organized environmental clean-ups with children and youth.

Adopt-A-Rental-Block (Adopt @ Boon Lay)

We are long-time partners with the South-West Community Development Council (CDC) for an annual grocery bag distribution to residents living in rental blocks. Since 2011, more than 300 ExxonMobil employees, friends and family members have gathered to pack and distribute food and daily essentials to over 1,000 households residing in rental blocks within the South West District. Over the years, we have stepped up our giving to help residents manage the cost of living.

Mobile blood donation drives

Since 1999, ExxonMobil Singapore has been supporting the Singapore Red Cross through an annual drive as a flagship community event. Our employees and their family members volunteer at these drives, helping educate and persuade members of the public to come forward and donate blood. Over the last two decades, we have made a difference with over 15,000 bags of blood collected during these mobile drives.

Junior Achievement (Singapore)

ExxonMobil has been collaborating with Junior Achievement Singapore for more than 10 years since 2012 to shape a brighter future for our youth. In this time, we reached out to more than 15,000 students over 400 different classes and more than 1,000 colleagues had participated in the programs. We continue to be part of this journey to make a positive impact on young minds, equipping them with skills and knowledge to succeed in the global economy.
