• Aug. 3, 2020The Bass Strait Charity Fund uses money raised through staff fundraising initiatives and matched giving from Esso Australia’s contributions program to support worthy community charities and organisations providing a service to the Gippsland community.
The Bass Strait Charity Fund encourages members of Esso’s Gippsland workforce to put forward potential grant recipients in the local community.
“Many of our workforce have such strong links with local community groups, either through being a volunteer or member of a group, knowing someone who is a volunteer, or perhaps even receiving some form of support from the group themselves,” said Longford Plants Manager, Kartik Garg.
“A great example is this year’s donation to the Footprints Foundation, which has strong ties back to some of our personnel - Longford Operator, Kain Jackson is President and Offshore Analyst, Angela Jones is an integral part of the organisation’s committee.”
The Footprints Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support for local women and their families within the Sale and District area currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“Not only are many of us from Longford directly involved in the Footprints Foundation, it’s all too unfortunate that there are plenty of us, or those close to many of us, who have turned to the foundation for support, ” said Longford Operator and Footprints Foundation President, Kain Jackson.
The foundation works with community volunteers to provide tangible support to those fighting breast cancer to make sure they know that they are not alone and to help ensure some of their basic needs continue to be met.
“Our volunteers provide support in the form of helping with general household chores, such as mowing lawns and tending to gardens, cooking meals and cleaning. We aim to bring a bit of normality and make a positive difference to the lives of families currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer,” said Kain.
