Downstream Process Engineering

An integral role in the world’s leading supplier of downstream products, our Downstream Process Engineering group provides technical expertise to all of ExxonMobil’s downstream process technologies. This adds up to reduced energy operating costs with a focus on manufacturing processes.

Materials Integrity

ExxonMobil is only as strong as the products and services it provides. Our Materials Integrity group maintains the highest standards while ensuring efficient design and construction of facilities across all business units. Materials, corrosion, inspection, welding, applied mechanics and failure analysis are prioritized, along with providing expertise to projects, production operations and plants, research, technical support centers and common skill centers.

Upstream Process Engineering

It is critical that our oil and gas facilities maintain safe, environmentally sound operations. Upstream process engineers help convert a flowing wellstream into saleable products, and remove the remainder of the wellstream in a safe, conscious manner. This group also focuses on developing ExxonMobil engineers’ technical and commercial leadership capabilities to research, develop, deploy and support operations. These skill areas apply to engineers embedded in asset teams, production units, capital projects, research, facilities operated by others, Technical Support Centers and the Common Skill Center.

Drilling and Subsurface

On land, shore, offshore or in the Arctic—our engineers are fully embedded to help deploy technologies and methods that safely develop a wide range of resources in diverse locations around the world. This group of skilled engineers covers the design, analysis, execution planning and implementation, surveillance, troubleshooting and technical and operational support.

We employ experts to support our floating production facilities for oil and gas, onshore and offshore marine terminals and self-propelled and non-self-propelled marine vessels. Marine engineers work in the fields of naval architecture, marine systems engineering, structural engineering, hydrodynamics, characterization of metocean conditions, and motions of marine assets in response to environmental loads, mooring and station keeping.

Play an integral part in the development and production phases of ExxonMobil’s oil and gas reservoirs. Reservoir engineers take part in the entire life-cycle of a producing reservoir, with many of our engineers embedded in production units, joint interest groups, joint ventures and projects.

Our engineers help deploy technologies and methods to safely develop a wide range of resources, both offshore and onshore. The core responsibilities of subsea engineers is to design, analyze, troubleshoot and qualify subsea systems and hardware. This also includes subsea control systems and associated distribution and connection systems, seafloor processing equipment and overall system integration and interfaces with other equipment. But that’s just the start—subsea engineers also have opportunities in operations, integrity management, surveillance and intervention on subsea equipment.

Instrument, Measurement and Control Systems

A key role in maintaining operations integrity and reliability across all businesses’ operating assets. This group develops expertise and technology in instrumentation, petroleum measurement, analyzers and control systems, while never losing sight of efficient strategies in the design and construction of facilities.

The design and construction of our facilities prioritizes integrity and reliability. The Equipment group develops and enables efficient deployment of expertise in the engineering disciplines of fixed equipment, rotating equipment, heat transfer and reliability. Like many of our engineers, the Equipment group provides support across all businesses. Example roles: Equipment Engineer, Advanced Machinery Engineer, Heat Exchanger Expert, Reliability Advisor

Fuels Product Quality

We meet and exceed our customers’ expectations by setting and following the highest standards. Our fuels product quality group ensures we meet our Corporate Quality Policy, and provides guidance, interpretation and assessments of the Global Product Quality Management System and Aviation Quality Upstream of Airports standards.

Chemical Process Engineering

Technical expertise makes ExxonMobil an industry leader. That’s what our Chemical Process Engineering group delivers every day, along with a focus on new catalyst and process implementation to drive efficiency. Additionally, this group optimizes ExxonMobil’s energy and variable operating cost and ensures the overall health of our chemical units.
