A small community with a big role: Helping reduce GHG emissions

Louisianans know Pecan Island as a place to go fishing and enjoy the prairie marshes along the U.S. Gulf Coast. But this small community in Vermilion Parish has an exciting role to play in supporting the state’s energy future and its ambition to get to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Teaming up with two of the state’s industrial leaders – CF Industries and EnLink Midstream – we’re investing in Louisiana’s future through a new carbon capture and storage project.

Here’s how the project will work: CF Industries will capture CO2  emissions from its facility in Donaldsonville. Then, ExxonMobil will transport the CO2 (via EnLink Midstream pipelines) to geologic storage we own at Pecan Island, safely and permanently storing the emissions deep underground.
