ExxonMobil’s story in the Kingdom began over 90 years ago, and the company has since actively contributed towards the Kingdom’s economic and social goals. As a responsible member of the communities in which we operate, we seek to improve the quality of life and create opportunities wherever we are, with specific focus on key initiatives in the fields of Education, Leadership and Health.

Education

ExxonMobil invests in education programs that focus on inspiring students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), including programs that support teacher development and training. This initiative has a direct impact on our business, as scientists and engineers are critical to addressing the energy challenges of today and tomorrow. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia strongly believes that human capability is a cornerstone to building a prosperous future and this is why we have invested in local education initiatives.

King Abdulaziz & his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba)

As a company that utilizes technology and innovation in every aspect of its business, ExxonMobil recognizes global economic growth relies upon highly skilled individuals, particularly those well-trained in the STEM fields. We believe it is fundamentally important to encourage young students to pursue studies and careers in STEM fields. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia is a proud supporter of Mawhiba, which partners with schools and universities throughout Saudi Arabia to enhance the educational opportunities and attainments of gifted Saudi students.

SAUT: The Voice of Down Syndrome

SAUT is dedicated to serving individuals with Down syndrome and their families in Saudi Arabia, and offers education and training for Down syndrome students ranging in age from infancy up until 21 years. The programs are designed to help students achieve fulfilling lives. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia’s support of SAUT enables children from underprivileged backgrounds to gain access to the education they need to realize their highest potential.

American International School Riyadh (AISR)

AISR is a non-profit, competitive, coeducational school following an American-based curriculum for students from pre-kindergarten through high school. The school’s STEM Lab, funded by ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia, introduces students to an environment that encourages observation, experimentation and engineering. The aim of the lab is to prepare students for future rewarding careers in science and engineering fields.

Charitable Society for Special Needs in Jubail Industrial City (Eradah)

ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia sponsors Eradah, which is committed to developing, nurturing and refining the skills of people with special needs through early intervention. The organization supports the integration of people with special needs into society.

Leadership

As the increased participation of Saudis in the local workforce is an important issue in the Kingdom, ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia has invested in programs to help job seekers enter into the workforce and give employed Saudis the tools necessary to grow professionally and build successful and rewarding careers.

INJAZ

INJAZ Saudi Arabia, a member of Junior Achievement Worldwide, works in partnership with the business community, ministries, educators and volunteers to equip Saudi youth with practical business-related skills through hands-on workshops and programs.

ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia partnered with INJAZ to bring its Safeer program to schools in Yanbu and Jubail. The program aims to improve employability, financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills to facilitate entry into the labor market. Additionally ExxonMobil is a regional supporter of a flagship initiative called the Company Program that enables students to turn their innovative ideas into profitable products and learn how to start their own company.

Global Women in Management (GWIM)

The Centre for Development and Population Activities (CEDPA), an internationally recognized non-governmental organization, established the Global Women in Management (GWIM) program in 1978, and in 2005 ExxonMobil became the sole sponsor. Since its inception, the GWIM program has strengthened the leadership and management skills of thousands of women from around the world. It has given women working with community organizations insights and ideas so they can become more effective, and their work can have a long-lasting impact in their home countries. ExxonMobil, in collaboration with our implementing partner in Saudi Arabia, the King Khalid Foundation, have trained over 130 Saudi women in management, leadership and technical skills. Participants come from nonprofit organizations across the Kingdom and the region, representing a broad spectrum of community service organizations.

Glowork

Glowork supports women’s economic participation in Saudi Arabia and organizes the A Step Ahead annual career fair. This collective effort between the private and public sector facilitates the successful integration of Saudi women into the professional world. It is a unique platform that goes beyond facilitating practical skills, education and networking to link women seeking employment with prospective employers. Since the first event in 2013, participation has increased to 300 organizations and over 50,000 job seekers in three cities. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia has supported the event since its inception.

Health

At ExxonMobil, we care about the health and well-being of our employees and families. We offer a variety of programs ranging from disease prevention to help with healthier living. Additionally we invest in community health and research initiatives led by our local partners which contribute toward the health and safety of the Saudi community at large.

King Salman Center for Disability Research (KSCDR)

ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia is a founding member of the center, which is working to improve the lives of people in the Kingdom with disabilities by providing them with the tools and care they need. KSCDR supports basic and applied research and promotes the application of advances in treatment to benefit individuals living with disabilities. As part of its mission, it works to develop new insights into the causes of disabilities and new strategies to prevent or reduce their impact.

Disabled Children’s Association (DCA)

The Disabled Children’s Association provides care and other services to children with disabilities across the kingdom. The organization offers comprehensive, multi-disciplinary assistance, including therapeutic, educational, rehabilitation and social services. It also works to raise awareness about issues related to disabilities.

The DCA launched a road safety campaign to raise awareness of driving safety, as traffic accidents are responsible for over 80 percent of impaired mobility in the Kingdom. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia supports this campaign, as we believe road safety is paramount and we adhere to road safety guidelines in our transportation operations across the Kingdom.

Zahra Breast Cancer Association

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for Saudi women. Research has shown however, that early detection can drastically improve survival rates. The association raises awareness of the issue, works with health-service providers to improve care to breast cancer patients, implements Kingdom-wide screening programs and advocates for early detection and prevention programs. ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia sponsored the Kingdom-wide breast cancer month awareness campaign to educate women about early detection and the treatment options.
