Mobil reopens car wash machines in Auckland as water saving efforts end

Mobil service stations in Auckland have been given the greenlight to reopen their car wash machines, three weeks after they were temporarily closed in support of the region's water saving efforts.

All thirty Mobil service stations in Auckland have been observing a voluntary shutdown of car wash machines since Watercare urged residents and business to use less water due to problems at Ardmore Water Treatment Plant.

Mobil Oil New Zealand Country Manager, Andrew McNaught said, “We are very pleased to advise customers that our car wash machines are back in operation. We thank them for their patience and look forward to welcoming them back for a well-deserved clean. Any customers who had car wash tickets that expired during the temporary closure will be reissued a new one."

"Our car wash machines are designed to be as economical as possible with their water usage. Nevertheless, closing all thirty throughout the city will have saved a significant quantity of water and we're happy to have been able to play our part.”
