Today, ExxonMobil in Argentina employs 2,500+ people through several Exxon Mobil Corporation affiliates: ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina S.R.L, Mobil Argentina S.A. and ExxonMobil Business Support Center Argentina S.R.L.
ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina
Since 2010, ExxonMobil Exploration Argentina (EMEA) has had a presence in the unconventional Vaca Muerta shale oil and shale gas play in the Neuquén Province, which is considered one of the most important unconventional resources in the world.
EMEA has interest in multiple blocks together with other partners. In 2016, following the successful initial exploration results in the Bajo del Choique-La Invernada block, EMEA began a pilot project. The project will enable EMEA to continue to assess the productivity and recovery of horizontal wells in the Vaca Muerta. It includes drilling five wells, as well as early production facilities and a gas pipeline. XTO Energy is providing operational support for the project.
XTO Energy is a leading producer of natural gas and oil in North America. The company specializes in the development of non-conventional resources and has over 11 million acres. It operates more than 55,000 gross operated wells throughout the United States and Canada. This is the first operation supported by XTO Energy outside of North America.
Thanks to XTO's successful track record in North American operations, investment in Argentina includes a combination of state-of-the-art technology, resources, expertise and experience that have been proven in North American operations. Until now, XTO's expertise has allowed us to drill the largest horizontal-length wells to date in the Vaca Muerta line. XTO has a proven track record of productivity and efficiency, which is critical throughout the life of a project
Mobil Argentina S.A (MASA) holds 51 percent interest in the onshore field of Sierra Chata, Neuquén Province, producing natural gas and condensate. Most of MASA’s natural gas is sold to a variety of local distribution companies, industrial users and power generation companies in Argentina.

Business Support Center Argentina
The Business Support Center Argentina S.R.L has provided services to different ExxonMobil affiliates in the Americas since 2004, and is operated as part of the larger business support center network, which has centers strategically positioned around the world. Current services cover controllers, human resources, information technology, procurement, tax and global real estate and facilities.
Corporate social responsibility
ExxonMobil is committed to investing in the countries in which it operates, and in Argentina, the contributions are focused on education, health and safety, cultural heritage and women’s programs. ExxonMobil has developed long-standing relationships with the communities by also partnering with organizations dedicated to contribute to these focus areas.

In Rincon de los Sauces, within the Neuquén province, EMEA has invested over US$1 million since 2013 in corporate social responsibility programs that include:
- High school scholarships
- Reading programs for elementary schools
- Special contests for elementary schools
- Donations of materials to the local library
- Equipment donations to the public hospital
- Safety and security education talks
- Emergency response doctors’ training oriented to professionals from the local hospital and clinic
- Funding the extraction of dinosaur fossils (new specie: Viavenator exxoni, “hunter of the road of Exxon”)
- Donation of safety equipment to the fire department
- Donation of communications and emergency response equipment to the Civil Defense
- Sending more than 20 women from different NGOs in Argentina to the Global Women in Management Program, run by Plan International
- Sponsorship of local activities such as the Arts and Culture Exhibition, the Week Health and city anniversary
Additionally, in the BSC a group of voluntary employees formed the “Tigre Solidario” (Solidarity Tiger) project, coordinating and carrying out community service initiatives since 2004, such as the “Un Techo Para Mi País” (A Roof For My Country) program which brings shelter to low-income families.
Exxon Mobil Corporation has numerous affiliates, with many names that include ExxonMobil, Exxon, Mobil, Esso and XTO. For convenience and simplicity those terms and terms such as Corporation, company, our, we and its are sometimes used as abbreviated references to specific affiliates or affiliate groups.
