Saudi Yanbu Petrochemical Company

Yanpet is one of the largest petrochemical complexes in Saudi Arabia. Yanpet is equally owned by SABIC and ExxonMobil. The joint venture was established in 1980 and commenced operations in 1985 in Yanbu, on Saudi Arabia’s western, Red Sea coast. Yanpet has two world-scale steam crackers producing 1.7 million tons per year of ethylene. They feed the on-site derivative units that supply polyethylene, ethylene glycol, and polypropylene to domestic, regional and global markets.

Workforce development

Almost 90 percent of Yanpet’s workforce are Saudis. To retain the highly-qualified Saudi workforce at Yanpet, there is a comprehensive program focused on employee professional and leadership development at this world-class industrial plant.

Environmental compliance and protection

Yanpet facilities operate at the highest international standards for care for the environment.  Yanpet employees are well trained in a wide range of safety, health and environmental protection practices and procedures designed and managed to protect the workforce and local communities.  In recognition of its commitment to the protection of the environment, Yanpet has received several environmental awards from the local regulatory authorities in Yanbu.
