Mobil Oil New Zealand Limited (Mobil) has purchased and completed refurbishment of two additional bulk storage tanks at Bluff Terminal which will help ensure the reliable supply of fuel in the South Island as the economy grows.
The two fuel tanks will add an additional four million litres of diesel storage and will be operational from early May 2015.
Mobil Oil New Zealand Lead Country Manager Andrew McNaught said Mobil was committed to investing in supply infrastructure for the South Island for the benefit of customers and the wider community.
“Bluff is an important supply port for petroleum fuels, and Mobil’s Bluff Terminal is an important link in Mobil’s supply chain that services the lower South Island market, particularly for diesel which is used by a broad range of customers.
“In addition to upgrading these tanks to the latest industry and regulatory standards, Mobil has already provided an additional 1.5 million litres of diesel storage at Bluff Terminal through conversion of an existing tank at the site in 2014, following the closure of the Z Energy storage facility at Bluff,” he said.
Mr. McNaught said he was pleased the refurbishment work was completed safely and without any adverse impacts to the environment, with a majority of the work being done by local contractors.
