Esso Italiana S.r.l. is the main company of the ExxonMobil group in Italy where it has been operating since 1891. A leader in the Italian oil industry, Esso Italiana runs - either directly or through controlled companies - activities in several business sectors: refining, petroleum products distribution and sales, and chemicals.

Our main operating sites are Augusta refinery (Sicily), Sarpom refinery (run by a corporate joint venture in North-West Italy), several fuels terminals (directly owned and in joint venture), and a lubricants blending and packaging plant in Vado Ligure (North-West Italy). The Esso branded retail service stations network is among the widest and most efficient in the Italian market.

ExxonMobil Italiana Gas S.r.l. is the shareholder (70.7%) of Adriatic LNG, the company which operates the LNG Terminal located offshore Italy in the North Adriatic sea.

ExxonMobil has a strong commitment to investing in the locations where we operate, and in Italy we support a wide variety of community programs and initiatives such as: Safety on Two Wheels, a driving education campaign for middle school students of the Augusta refinery area; ANT a non-profit organization that assists cancer patients at home free of charge; the National Technology and Science Museum in Milan, which features a renewed interactive energy & environment laboratory and a exhibition area on the energy system evolution sponsored by Esso Italiana; the publication of an energy atlas to promote energy literacy among middle school students.
