ExxonMobil in Germany operates from its offices in Hamburg for Downstream, Hanover for Upstream and Cologne for Chemical business.

In Downstream we market fuels and lubricants and specialties both to consumers through a network of Esso service stations, and directly to business-to-business segments such as industrial and wholesale, original equipment manufacturers, aviation, and marine in Germany. The Upstream business operates the exploration, development and production of natural gas on behalf of BEB and MEEG, as well as the production of crude oil. The chemical business sells products such as polymers and intermediates that touch almost every European’s daily life in the form of packaging material, automotive parts and other consumer goods.

In Germany ExxonMobil is the corporate brand used for general communication and government relations activities. It is also used by the Upstream, Downstream and Chemical businesses. ESSO is the brand for a range of fuels used by the Retail and Wholesale Fuels business lines. As ESSO service stations are the most publicly visible part of the company in Central Europe, ESSO is the brand most commonly known to the general public. Mobil stands for performance and innovation in lubricants and services.

ExxonMobil is committed to investing in all the communities in which we operate. In Germany, we continued an integrated school project of the exploration and production industry; implemented a new school subject called “Oil & Gas” to spark student interest in technical professions and foster a relationship between the industry and local school boards; and supported the multidisciplinary technology competition Formula 1 in Schools, where students age 11 to 19 develop and produce miniature F1 racing cars.
