Held jointly by the National Center for Educator Development, Qatar University (QU) and ExxonMobil Qatar, the Qatar University ExxonMobil Teachers Academy is an innovative professional development program established in 2012 to enhance math and science teaching skills among educators. The annual, weeklong academy provides independent school teachers with active-learning and inquiry-based teaching techniques, tailormade for engaging students in the learning process and deepening their understanding of math and science.
Teachers are selected by QU and the Supreme Education Council based on their qualifications and commitment to participate in the academy.
More than 200 teachers in Qatar have participated in the academy since its creation. The academy is the first international program to grow from the successful U.S.-based ExxonMobil Teachers Academy.
