Our community partnership ExxonMobil has a history of giving in the Baytown area because we understand the importance of being a good neighbor. As more than just near neighbors, we are community partners, and we strive to make positive contributions to support and strengthen our local communities. After all, we live and work here, too. Safety is a core value Sustained safety excellence is a testament to the quality of our people and their dedication to keeping each other and our community safe. ExxonMobil Baytown’s exceptional safety culture is built on a foundation of extensive employee involvement that has helped us consistently deliver industry-leading performance. These achievements demonstrate an unrelenting commitment to our vision that “Nobody Gets Hurt.” Volunteerism in the community ExxonMobil Baytown is proud to take a leadership role in important community initiatives such as The United Way, Relay for Life and Habitat for Humanity. Each year, more than 1,000 ExxonMobil employees volunteer with these and other Baytown area organizations which strengthen our community and contribute to the livelihood and well-being of our neighbors. Here are just some of the ways ExxonMobil Baytown and its employees are making a difference in our community: As the area’s top contributor to the United Way of Greater Baytown Area and Chambers County, we are proud to support local agencies that help strengthen our community. In addition to our financial contribution of more than $2 million in 2014, ExxonMobil’s Day of Caring has drawn more than 4,000 employee volunteers since its inception in 2000. Our employees raised more than $117,000 in 2014 for the Bay Area Relay for Life, benefitting the American Cancer Society. For years, ExxonMobil has served as the Triple Diamond Sponsor for the regional event. During the past 17 years, ExxonMobil Baytown has donated more than $440,000 to Baytown Habitat for Humanity. This support, along with countless employee volunteer hours, has enabled Baytown Habitat to build approximately eight of their 39 homes in our community. Each year, we partner with the City of Baytown to provide funding for The Mayor & ExxonMobil Summer Work Program, which provides local students with summer employment opportunities in City departments and local agencies. Since 2007, ExxonMobil has contributed more than $510,000 for program supplies and activities. ExxonMobil Baytown is a proud member of the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce, and we strive to support Chamber events and objectives in the communities where we live and work. We also partner with Baytown’s award-winning Eddie V. Gray Wetlands Center, which educates children and citizens on environmental sciences and the importance of wetlands and their inhabitants. Support for education ExxonMobil is also committed to providing engaging and meaningful support for our local schools, especially in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Our volunteers help foster long-standing educational partnerships, committing several thousand hours to teaching, mentoring and inspiring youth in our community. When we provide students with the education and support they need today, there’s no telling what they will accomplish tomorrow. Below are a few of the local educational programs ExxonMobil Baytown is proud to support: Our Baytown area sites are strong supporters of math and science programs at Goose Creek CISD and Barbers Hill ISD. Each year, our employees volunteer as Science Ambassadors, mentors and Junior Achievement volunteers, providing positive experiences and hands-on activities that inspire our students to succeed. Our 25-year commitment to The Baytown Chamber of Commerce Partners in Education (PIE) program has fostered long-standing relationships with Goose Creek CISD schools to provide support for important educational initiatives in our local schools. We partner with Baytown’s Lee College to provide resources, funding and opportunities for students to learn and engage with our industry. In the past seven years, ExxonMobil has donated $875,000 to Lee College’s Advanced Technology Department. ExxonMobil recently committed $1 million to expand support for Houston-area workforce training programs. The announcement was made in partnership with the Gulf Coast Community College Petrochemical Initiative, a consortium of nine Houston-area community colleges which builds on the successful Lee College – ExxonMobil Process Technology Program and its emphasis on STEM. Our annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day showcases fun and unique applications of STEM and encourages local girls to consider careers in these fields. More than 180 eighth-grade girls from Baytown area middle schools participate each year. Contributions We strongly encourage and support employees and retirees who choose to make their own contributions of time and money to community activities.
