MPN supports the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Uyo Chapter

Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited, as part of its commitment to fostering relationships with relevant stakeholders, has recently supported the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Uyo Chapter with sponsorship of capacity building workshop for journalists and further donation of N4.5 million for completion of its Press Centre.

In his remarks, Media and Communications Manager, MPN, Oge Udeagha pointed out that, ExxonMobil considers all its stakeholders as critical partners.

He reiterated MPN's commitment to supporting its different stakeholders - especially the press - in their mission to develop effective communication channels. He commended the support of the media for the operations of MPN over the years and solicited for more, especially in these challenging times for the industry.

Speaking on behalf of NUJ, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Chapter, Elder Patrick Albert applauded the Company for its numerous efforts in supporting the Union over several years. "We commend and thank MPN for all their support so far - the provision of 100 laptops to journalists in 2014, sponsorship of capacity building workshops for journalists in the State and donation of N4.5 million towards the finishing of the NUJ press center and many others", he said.

In his concluding remarks, Udeagha highlighted few of the company's contributions to the development of Akwa Ibom State, including the provision of N8 billion counter-part funding for the construction of the Eket - Ibeno road, provision of funding for the on-going Special Community Projects (Special Project II) in eight Akwa Ibom State communities, and funding of various projects in the areas of education, health, sports, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, socio-cultural development, amongst others. He mentioned that these excluded statutory contributions of about N160 billion to NDDC, N 230 billion in annual derivation to the Akwa Ibom State Government, taxes, rates and other remittances.
