Community initiatives

We are committed to supporting and engaging with local communities. We consider our community relationships an essential element of our business activity and support many organizations through various corporate and site-based programs. Contributions are primarily in the areas of education, health and safety, volunteering and welfare.

Furthering education

Education is a fundamental building block for society, and improving the quality of and access to educational resources is a priority for Mobil Oil Guam Inc.

Since 2009, Mobil Oil Guam Inc. has donated funds to Notre Dame High School’s Math and Science program. In December 2014 a donation of $2000 was made to assist in funding science and math materials and learning resources that aligns the school’s curriculum with 21st Century learning and technology. Mobil’s continued funding to Notre Dame supports the school’s mission to “prepare students for college and lifelong learning that encourages collaboration, instills leadership, promotes dedication to service, and inspires passion for justice and peace.

On January 21, 2015, Mobil Oil Guam Inc. presented the first contribution check to the University of Guam Endowment Foundation. The contribution is in support of the University of Guam’s 60th Anniversary Capital Campaign and marks the first contribution to the University by a petroleum company. Mobil also will continue to contribute towards the completion of the University of Guam’s 21st Century campus, which will enable and enhance the education for many of its students, for the benefit of the Island of Guam and her future generations. Mobil is grateful that we will receive, in turn, naming rights to a room in the Engineering Annex of the University. Mobil Oil Guam is committed to making a positive impact in every community in which it operates.

Mobil Oil Guam Inc. recently donated another $2,000 to the Academy of Our Lady of Guam’s Endowment Fund, specifically designated for the Math and Science departments. Mobil Oil Guam Inc. has been a tremendous supporter of Academy’s Endowment Fund since 2008. Mobil continues to generously donate each year to support Academy students with their studies in Math and Science, many of whom are interested in entering into related professions.

Literacy and education program

Mobil supports the “News In Education” program, providing ongoing financial support to promote literacy and education in the community. Copies of newspapers are provided to schools to assist teachers in the classroom to help facilitate learning and study in the areas of geography, current affairs, social science and many more topical subjects.

Caring for the environment

A large enthusiastic team of Mobil Oil Guam’s employees and their families joined volunteers around the globe for the 20th Annual International Coast Cleanup. This is the 2nd Year that Mobil has been a part of this International Event. The Guam International Coastal Clean as part of the global effort organized by the Ocean Conservancy was held on September 20, 2014.The Guam activities, organized by the Guam Coastal Management Program of the Bureau of Statistics and Plans, involved 4,500 participants collecting 10 tons of trash from 22 sites both on land and underwater. Our Mobil Team Collected a total of 200lbs of trash along the East Agana Coast Line that runs in front of our Guam Main Office.
