For the eighth consecutive year, ExxonMobil provided U.K. employees with a chance to participate in a “Day of Caring,” which enables employees to spend a workday volunteering their services with local projects. For example, employees from ExxonMobil’s Newport facility converted a nearby primary school classroom into a kitchen so students could have cooking lessons. Near our operations in Leatherhead, a team helped a local foundation for disabled people restore an overgrown pond area. More than 50 employees from our Fife plant made 10,000 remembrance crosses for a local charity that employs disabled and former servicemen. And, at our Fawley refinery, employees helped clean up a local school garden, repair equipment and improve wheelchair access at the school.
ExxonMobil U.K. also encourages employee volunteering through the Volunteer Involvement Program. Since the program’s inception 10 years ago, employees have provided more than $2.2 million in donations to organizations where they personally contributed time, talent and energy.
