In Papua New Guinea (PNG), we worked with our affiliate, Esso Highlands Limited (EHL), to build a jetty structure near our liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant site. The jetty is needed to accommodate the vessels that load LNG from the plant. We focused our jetty construction efforts on minimizing impact to the environment and local fishermen. Our Land and Community Affairs teams worked with PNG locals to preserve access to fishing areas during jetty construction and modified project plans to avoid a popular fishing reef. ExxonMobil continues to work with EHL to engage with the local communities and mitigate the impact from PNG LNG construction.
