IPIECA/GRI/SDG index

Our corporate citizenship reporting is guided by our materiality process, through which we determine the most important issues to our stakeholders and our business. Our reporting is consistent with the IPIECA, the International Oil and Gas Producers Association (IOGP) and the American Petroleum Institute (API) Oil and gas industry guidance on voluntary sustainability reporting (2015). This report also cross-references the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. These guidelines can be downloaded at ipieca.org and globalreporting.org.

In 2016, ExxonMobil mapped the content included in our corporate citizenship reporting against the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to determine our alignment with these global objectives. Additional information about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can be downloaded at sustainabledevelopment.un.org. This index aligns with the content on the Corporate Citizenship pages of our website. Each of the IPIECA indicators in this index include, at minimum, all common reporting elements. GRI indicators listed in italics are partially addressed. Where indicators require multiple pieces of information located on different webpages, we list the indicator on each page where relevant content appears.

Environmental Resources Management, Inc. (ERM) reviewed ExxonMobil’s 2016 Corporate Citizenship Report against the IPIECA/IOGP/API Oil and gas industry guidance on voluntary sustainability reporting (2015) and the GRI G4 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. ERM found that the report contents address the indicators shown in this index.

ERM also reviewed ExxonMobil’s Corporate Citizenship Report content against the SDGs to help identify where existing ExxonMobil initiatives may be aligned with the objectives of the SDGs.
